cuti-cuti Malaysia

The holidays were extremely fun, even though a month is not enough (to be honest). After six months of attending lectures and forcing myself to comprehend each and every component taught in class, finally, I got the chance to put all that aside for a little while.

This year’s holiday was really a ‘Cuti-cuti Malaysia’ for me. During the first week of holidays, we went to Langkawi. That was our third time there, and our last visit was about five years ago. It was quite disappointing actually as not many things have changed. The airport itself seemed deserted and the roads were still under construction, even though according to one of the residents, it has been quite some time since the repairing work started. However, Langkawi is undeniably the best place to shop for chocolates! On the day we arrived itself, we bought loads of chocolates; Cadburry, Ferrero Rocher, Kinder Bueno, Belgian, etc.. We had great fun eating chocolates there! In fact, it is a paradise for my mom, as pinggan mangkuk and all the crystal thingy can be purchased at a lower price compared to the ones sold in KL. Besides, we also visited many interesting places such as Makam Mahsuri, Underwater World and the latest attraction, the cable car!
The following week, we boarded the plane to Miri, Sarawak. All of us were thrilled as it was our first trip to ‘Bumi Kenyalang’. We arrived there at around 7 pm and it was already dark. After settling in at our hotel, we went out for dinner. The next morning, we took a tour around Miri, lead by my aunt who has been living there for approximately 6 years. To my surprise, Miri is not as what I expected; it was a developed city and in fact, it is more beautiful than my hometown, Klang (I hate to admit it! Huhu). Even the pasar is clean and quite comfortable. We went to Miri Handicraft Centre, we bought ikan terubuk masin at a place which I have forgotten its name, we went to the beautiful beach, and many more. Although the weather was freking hot, we had great fun. The only regret was not bringing along our passport. If only we brought our passport, we would have been able to go to Brunei. (WAAAAAA!)

Overall, the holidays were exciting. Despite having the opportunity to visit other parts of Malaysia, having the chance to spend my time with my familay was actually the best part of the holiday, especially with the presence of my eldest sister who came back from Australia for her holidays.
